Our Response To COVID-19 is, YES, we are open but only for reduced delivery hours and pickup hours for take-out, are from 12pm-12am. Being quarantined only makes our drinking prices better than ever. Check out what we have to offer for you while you are home. Help us support our staff who are now considered "non-essential" due to the COVID-19 virus and give them the TIPS that they deserve and what they work hard for to continue servicing our community. Bartenders are "essential" and they are the backbone to our family business. We love and appreciate everyone who works for us and give the delivery driver what he deserves as a tip. We are working hard to keep our employees, customers, and community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. We reduced our normal hours from 12pm-2am to Covid-19 new hours 12-12am Monday through Sunday.

About Mr. Jay's Place Bar
This is your friendly family owned neighborhood bar where the famous writer "Bukowski" used to drink, roam around and write all the time. Join us for our drink specials and all the locals at our weekly events on the 1st & 2nd floor bar. Have good times, meet new friends and have a cold beer. We are glad you are here!! All are welcomed here!
Established in 1999.
Way back in 1999, this family owned neighborhood bar business was established by Jay Guzman & Family, who are longtime residents of Fairmount and Spring Garden street since 1955. This shot-and-beer joint near 17th Street and Fairmount Avenue is a notable landmark, because it's the same spot where American drunkard author and poet Charles Bukowski used to spend his time while living in Philadelphia in the mid forties. It also served as the inspiration for the Golden Horn, the fictional bar at the center of the Bukowski-penned semi-autobiographical film Barfly. With a gaggle of new bars and restaurants sprouting up in the Fairmount neighborhood in recent months, right now seems like it's as good of a time to visit Mr Jay's Place. All are welcomed here!
